Vietnam, Mekong Delta & Cambodia - Itinerary

Day 1: Saigon

Arrive in Saigon and transfer to Duxton Hotel (deluxe room). A city tour of Ho Chi Minh city's historic landmarks including the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, former Presidential Palace and the Chinese district of Cholon.

Day 2: Mekong Delta - Can Tho

Leave Saigon for a scenic drive to Mekong Delta. On arrival, board our private motorized boat for a river cruise on the upper part of the Mekong River for a taste of agricultural life on the mighty Mekong River visiting a fish raising village then entering Vam Xep canal with beautiful scenery of water palm. Disembark the boat to stroll around Quoi An fruit orchard visiting fruit-drying kilns and coconut craftware-making home. Enhance your trip with a short horse-drawn cart ride along the village road. Upon arrival at Ben Truc – Phong Phu garden, sample some tasty Mekong delta fruit whilst enjoy traditional local music, and an opportunity to interact with the local people who live and work on the Mekong Delta. Complete your trip in a rowing boat to explore the water palm canals. Return to the main boat and then back to My Tho. Arrive at the dock and take lunch at Mekong Rest Stop restaurant incorporating some great Mekong specialties. Overnight at Victoria Can Tho Hotel (superior room). (B,L)

Day 3: Mekong Delta & Chau Doc

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and board the boat for a 2 ½ hour cruise to visit Cai Rang floating market with stops at a Bun Tau noodle factory and a rice husking mill. You can even try passing one of the many fragile monkey bridges along the canals. Then drive to Chau Doc with a short hike into the Bang Lang Stork sanctuary to watch the lively activities of storks coming back home for the night. After that, drive directly to Chau Doc and enjoy the sunset on the top of Sam Mountain. Overnight at Victoria Chau Doc Hotel (superior room). (B,L)

Day 4: Chau Doc - Phnom Penh (speedboat)

Early morning, transfer to the dock for taking a 6-hour speedboat ride to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, meet and transfer to Sunway Hotel. Afternoon, set out on a city tour to visit the National Museum where houses Khmer art, especially sculptures from different periods of Cambodian history; Royal Place built in 1866 by King Norodom; Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5,000 silver tiles and located within the Royal Palace compound. Day 5: Phnom Penh - Siem Reap

Fly to Siem Reap, gateway to the Angkor temple complex. Arrive in Siem Reap and transfer to Angkor Century Resort & Spa. Start exploring the mysterious Royal city Angkor Thom. Its 50-tower temple is an awesome sight. Further visits to the surroundings of the complex include the Baphou, Elephant Terraces, Lepper King Terrace and Royal Place area. Afternoon, visit the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat - one of the world's most impressive ruins. End the day at Phnom Bakheng, the first major temple to be constructed in the Angkor area. The Bakheng's hilltop location makes it the most popular sunset, offering a panoramic view of Angkor Wat and West Baray. (B)

Day 6: Siem Reap

Enjoy a drive to the rural outskirt 35km from the town and visit to Banteay Srei, the birthplace of Khmer classical style architecture. Afternoon, continue your exploration with a visit to the picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of a tree, pushing between the huge stone blocks of the temple in a sort of embrace, evoke feelings that you may remember forever. (B)

Day 7: Departure

Tranfer to the airport for onward flight. (B)
