Mexico, Guatemala & Belize - Itinerary

Day 1: Cancun - Chichen Itza - Uxmal

Visit of the legendary Maya – Toltec site Chichen Itza with its famous Kukulkan Pyramid, Temple of the Warriors, the Observatory, Ball Court and many more fascinating structures. Proceed to Uxmal and watch the sound & light show.

Day 2: Uxmal - Kabah - Celestun - Merida

Guided tour of mystic Maya-site of Uxmal with the precipitous Pyramid of the Magician. Driving on the Ruta Punc you will discover another testimony of the once high civilization of the Maya : Kabah with its intriguing temple of the masks which is dedicated to Chaak – the Rain God. Afternoon transfer to the fishing village of Celestun where you will go on a boat tour into the lagoon, natural habitat of pink flamingos. Proceed to Merida. (B)

Day 3: Merida - Cancun

Early morning walking tour through historical centre of Merida. Visit the Governor’s – and Montejo Palace, the Cathedral and the lively market. In the afternoon return to Cancun. On route we will stop in Valladolid and visit the magic Cenote of Dzitnup. (B)

Day 4: Cancun - Tulun - Chetumal

Morning visit of Maya-site Tulum, which was built on cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Proceed to the Lagoon of The Seven Colours in Bacalar and visit the Spanish Fortress. Refreshing swim in close by Cenote Azul. Transfer to state capital Chetumal. (B)

Day 5: Chetumal - Altun Ha - Belize Zoo - San Ignacio

Morning border crossing into Belize. Passing by sugar cane fields, you will eventually reach Orange Walk, a typical Beliz Town. Get to know the multi cultural population of this trading place. Soon afterwards we reach the ancient Maya city of Altun Ha with its monumental temples. Travelling on Western Highway, we stop at the well know Beliza Zoo where you can enjoy amongst other fellows the National Animal of Belize: the Tapir! Late afternoon arrival in San Ignacio, capital of Cayo district. (B)

Day 6: San Ignacio - Butterfly Farm - Panti Trail - Xunantunich - Flores

Short drive to The Lodge at Chaa Creek and visit of the amazing Butterfly House, breeding centre of Blue Morpho butterflies. Take a walk on Maya Medicine Trail named after its founder Mr Panti. Crossing over Mopan River, we reach Xunantunich , a Mayan site dominantly rising over the Mopan valley with its intriguing frescos. Border crossing into Guatemala and transfer to Flores. (B)

Day 7: Flores - Tikal - Guatemala city - Antigua

The highlight! Visit of the biggest Mayan city ever built : Tikal, where more than 3000 buildings are listed. On a 4 hour jungle walk you will discover unrivalled architectural jewels like the Grand Jaguar pyramid. Acropolis, Temple IV, Mundo Perdido….. After a tasty lunch, visit of small but interesting Morley – Museum. Afternoon transfer to Flores and flight to Guatemala City. Transfer to Antigua. (B,L)

Day 8: Antigua - Panajachel/Lake Atitlan

City tour of Antigua, former colonial capital of Central America founded in 1543 and partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1737. Visit of Main Square, Cathedral and the Palace of the Captains General. Continue to the Church of La Merced and a jade factory. Afternoon scenic drive on the Pan Americana highway to Panajchel on Lake Atitlan. (B)

Day 9: Panajachel - Chichicastenango - Panajachel

Early start to visit most beautiful and colourful market of the Highland-Indians in Chichicastenango. Local Mayans sell handmade textiles, artificial carvings and many other typical handicrafts. Enter the more than 400 years old church of Santo Tomas with its catholic and Mayan influences. Return back to Panajachel. (B)

Day 10: Lake Atitlan - Santiago Atitlan – Guatemala City

Boat tour across deep blue Lake Atitlan (depth of 300 meters) to Santiago Atitlan which is situated between towering volcanoes. You will visit the market, the church and “Maximon”. Transfer to Guatemala City. (B)

Day 11: Guatemala City - Airport

Transfer to the airport for your flight out. (B)
