Brazil Odyssey - Itinerary
Day 1: London/Rio de Janeiro
Depart Heathrow for Rio by British Airways or Iberia.
Day 2: Rio de Janeiro
Arrive in the morning. Transfer to Luxor Regente Hotel or similar. (B)
Day 3: Rio de Janeiro
Enjoy a full day tour of Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. Drive along the beaches to Cosme Velho, where the modern cog-wheel train is boarded for a 20 minute ride to the top of the Corcovado (800M - 2,400ft). The Christ the Redeemer statue is an imponent monument with its 40M height and 1,100 tons of weight but the real spectacle is the 360 degrees view of the scenery below, encompassing city, bay, mountain and sea within a circle of up to 160Km - 160 miles. The continuation of the tour is the visit to one of the most stunning landmark of Rio de Janeiro city “ Sugar Loaf Mountain” . It is reached on a two-stage cable car ride. (B)
Day 4: Rio by night & Barbecue Dinner & Samba show
Free time in the day to explore this maganificent city. In the evening, depart hotel to the famous barbecue and show house. Skewered barbecued cuts of meat are brought in a carroussel style and customer will choose how it will be cut and which meat is selected. After dinner, tour members will enjoy a night of Brazilian music, closing with a go at Carnival. The show is a display of the Brazilian music tradition and the participants will have the opportunity to have a glimpse of the rich Carnival costumes and the contagious sound of the drums. (B,D)
Day 5: Rio de Janeiro/Manaus (Amazon)
Fly to Manaus. Passengers will pick up at Airport and will be transferred to the pier where you will take a boat transfers (via "The Meeting of the waters") from Manaus to the Amazon Lodge. Arrival and free time to relax. After dinner, you will start a two-hour alligator spotting tour. Once they are paralyzed by the light of the flashlight, their eyes go red, enabling the guide easily locate them. The guide will try to catch one of them with his bare hands and, depending on its size, bring it aboard the canoe for observation. Afterwards, the "caiman" is safely returned to the waters. (B,D)
Day 6: Amazon
A Jungle trek in the morning. The guide will lead the hikers on a trek through the rainforest, educating the about the local flora and fauna. After lunch, you will travel on a motorized canoe with guide to visit the river area inlets and flooded forest. (B,L,D)
Day 7: Manaus/Salvador
Return to Manaus and fly to Salvador da Bahia. Transfer to Sol Victoria Marina Hotel or similar.(B)
Day 8: Salvador
A half day historical Salvador tour including All Saints Bay, Barra Lighthouse, the Castro Alves Square, the Saint Francis of Assissi church - built in the 18th Century and famous for its gold-inlaid interior, and also Pelourinho, declared in 1985 an UNESCO World Monument, Latin America's biggest colonial complex with buildings dating back from the 16th Century. Day 9: Salvador/Iguazu Falls
Fly to Iguazu and transfer Bourbon Catartas Hotel or similar. In the afternoon, a short walk down to the viewing platforms takes you past jungle, wildlife and birds to get as close as possible to the Falls. Optional helicopter rides over the Falls. (B)
Day 10: Iguazu Falls
We visit the Argentine side of the Falls. Board a small train in the heart of the National Park which takes passengers on a short train ride to the pathways and walkways which lead to the Devil’s Throat area of the Iguassu Falls. Spectacular Views over the Falls area. (B)
Day 11: Iguazu/London
Transfer for flight back to London via San Paolo. (B)
Day 12: London
Arrive in Heathrow in the morning.
