Beyond the Clouds

Yunnan is a culturally diversity with a fascinating ethnic mix, situated amongst breathtaking landscapes.  This extension combines all the must-see cities including Dali, Lijiang, and Kunming and offers a real insight into the beauty and charm of rural China.

Starting in Kunming, an ancient cultural city also known as "the City of Perpetual Spring", this is the capital of Yunnan situated 6,213 feet above sea level with an annual average temperature of 58 Fo. It is a place where 26 ethnic cultures have come together over many centuries. Known for its remarkable Stone Forest, mild climate, beautiful plateau landscape, and ethnic folklore, Kunming never ceases to delight visitors with each passing day.

After a short flight you will arrive in Dali. Set against stunning mountain backdrops, Dali Ancient Town is home to hill tribes with their colorful costumes and traditional villages. This tour will lead you to experience the majestic Mt. Cangshan and charming Erhai Lake while feel the hospitality of its local people. You will find Dali is the best place to relax and get away from the crowds and noise.

Then drive onwards to one of China's most beautiful cities,  Lijiang, an ancient city hidden amid towering mountain ranges built in the Song and early Yuan Dynasties that has marveled locals and foreigners alike for centuries. The Old City is comprised odd maze-like cobblestone pedestrian streets and tiny alleyways beautifully complemented by Koi-filled small rivers, willow trees, and bright red lanterns.  Lined with small shops, restaurants and local residences, you will find exploring the Old City a fascinating experience like no other. Highlights also include an excursion to the breathtaking Yulong Snow Mountain and a visit to one of the areas' many Naxi Minority Market.
